Intern Program

Adams PTO sponsors a unique program that brings Amity Intern Teachers into our children’s classrooms. After having to take a year off from participation in this wonderful program due to COVID, we are planning to host new interns for the 2021-2022 school year, and details will be provided soon.
Amity interns are native Spanish speakers who serve as teaching assistants in the classroom, and enrich our children’s learning by bringing different perspectives, cultures and accents to share with the students and the community. This program is funded only through the fundraising of the Adams community (not school funds). There are several ways to get involved! Email adamsinterns@gmail.com for more info!
- Donate to Adams PTO. Thank you to all who donated or assisted with our 2019 Direct Donation Campaign. We exceeded our $20,000 goal! If you are interested in participating in the 2021 campaign, please contact Treasurer Lisa Lendway, lisalendway@gmail.com
- Host an Amity Intern Teacher. This is a special opportunity to develop a close relationship with a young person from another country, to see your children’s Spanish in action, and to support the Adams community. Host families provide a room, meals and a home environment that allow our interns to feel welcomed and comfortable. Families may host for half the school year, or the entire school year. If you are interested in hosting, or just want to learn more, please email adamsinterns@gmail.com
- Become a Tio Family. Families are matched with an Amity Intern Teacher as “tios” – aunties and uncles. Tio families are asked to meet once a week or so with their Intern in order to provide another connection to the community, develop a strong relationship and to support the host family as needed. Being a Tio family is a great way to support an Intern if hosting is not an option for you. If you are interested in this opportunity, please email adamsinterns@gmail.com
